We have created a detailed action plan for the Queensland Government to address some of the big concerns for Queenslanders as we age and create a state for all ages. The action plan gives a clear direction to achieve our Vision for Queensland.
When we focus on the group of older Australians who are not doing so well at the moment, we see numerous challenges related to finances, health, age discrimination and a general lack of trust in Government and the future.
We have an extraordinary opportunity – to refuse the old ageist tropes, to write a new story about what we want life to be like as we all age, and to build the future together.
Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland and Moreton Bay Regional Council are partnering to pilot a Volunteer Community Peer Navigator Program at the Bribie Island library. The program aims to empower older people and their carers.
“The next four years of Government are an opportunity for future policies to be inclusive of all of us.” said Mark Tucker-Evans, COTA Queensland’s Chief Executive.
