The Queensland Government has established a Taskforce comprised of Government, the Community Sector and eminent Queenslanders to oversee support for Queensland seniors during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Strategy's vision is 'older people in the Brisbane south region experience a greater quality of life through safe connected and coordinated person-centred care in an age-friendly community.
COTA Queensland continues to work closely with Palliative Care Queensland (PCQ). The aim of the collaboration is to utilise the strengths, knowledge and experience of each organisation to promote supports available to Queenslanders to live and die well.
When we focus on the group of older Australians who are not doing so well at the moment, we see numerous challenges related to finances, health, age discrimination and a general lack of trust in Government and the future.
Today most Queenslanders can expect to live into their eighties and some beyond. Longer life provides the opportunity to reconsider not only what older age might be but how our whole lives might unfold.
