Home Care Package care recipients can use their packages to access personal monitoring services to keep them safe at home.
In addition to personal monitoring, to help Home Care Package recipients stay connected with loved ones and their community, Package funds can be used to purchase suitable digital technology and video conferencing equipment that meet their needs and access assistance in setting up and learning how to use the technology. Further information is available on the department’s website. Talk with your Home Care Provider about what you might be able to include in your package.
The Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) also has a range of personal monitoring technologies available to eligible veterans and widow/ers. Personal response systems can be prescribed by an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or a registered nurse following an in-home fall and cognitive assessment.
