COTA Queensland is pleased to continue working in partnership with the Office for Seniors towards the building of an Age-friendly Queensland. We met recently to discuss trends, and issues we’re hearing from older Queenslanders.
An age-friendly community is where older people are valued, respected and actively engaged in their community. They can stay in touch with people they care about and find the services and support they need. Age-friendly communities are more liveable for everyone.
The Age-friendly Cities and Communities program is a global initiative of the World Health Organisation to address the environments and social factors that contribute to active and healthy ageing in societies.
We have yet to have a Queensland community recognised, but we are up for the challenge.
