National survey of the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on the life and wellbeing of people living with dementia

The University of Sydney is leading a national survey which aims to investigate the impact that the recent COVID-19 outbreak has had on the life and wellbeing of people living with dementia and their care partners (family/informal carers), and their access to support and services.

The study is being conducted as part of the StepUp for Dementia Research program led by Professor Yun-Hee Jeon, with the support of Champion Organisations like us.

This national survey study hopes to gain a better understanding of the experiences of people living with dementia and their families and friends in the face of a crisis which may influence future policy direction and planning of services to improve care.

The research team is seeking participants who are either a person living with dementia or the primary carer (family or friend) for a person living with dementia. The survey aims to explore your experiences accessing services since the onset of the COVID 19 related social distancing rules including how you feel you, or the person you care for, have been impacted in terms of the level of care, support and overall well-being.

Participation in the study is completely voluntary and involves the completion of an anonymous survey which takes around 10-15 minutes to complete. The survey can either be accessed online or can be conducted over the phone.

You can participate either through a phone interview or via an online survey. For phone, call 1800-7837-123 (Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm, EST). To do an online survey, click on the following link: redcap.sydney.edu.au/surveys/?s=KKYTFRY9PN.
