Improving Quality and Choice of Care

On Thursday 8 February 2018, Chief Executive Mark Tucker-Evans participated in Queensland Health’s Healthcare Improvement Unit Improving quality of care and choice of care setting for residents of aged care facilities with acute healthcare needs steering committee meeting.

The project will develop collaborative clinical care pathways that are evidence-based to support residential aged care facility (RACF) and emergency department clinicians to identify, with the residents and/or their alternate health decision makers, the most appropriate place for RACF residents to receive acute healthcare.  The pathways will support hospital avoidance where clinically appropriate and consistent with patient choice and reduce the need of hospitalisation through timely recognition of acute deterioration and initiation of evidence-based care.
