Early Action Plan update: Age Well Roundtable

In 2017 the Queensland Mental Health Commission is renewing the Queensland Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Strategic Plan 2014-2019 (the Strategic Plan) and concurrently updating the Early Action: Queensland Mental Health Promotion, Prevention and Early Intervention Action Plan 2015–17 (Early Action Plan).

To support the Strategic Plan review, two discussion papers will be distributed and community forums held in early 2017.

Please be advised that the Early Action Reference Group and four Wells Working Groups (Start, Learn and Develop Well Working Group, Work Well Working Group, Live Well Working Group and Age Well Working Group) will be utilised as the major mechanism for the consultation process in the Early Action Plan update. As appropriate, other key informants and program leaders will be included in this process and the Commission welcome any suggestions in this regard.

The consultation process on the Early Action Plan update will involve:

  • Development of an Early Action Plan discussion paper to guide the Early Action Reference Group and Well Working Group Roundtable consultation process. The Early Action Plan discussion paper will review the development of the Action Plan, its purpose and implementation to date, and address relevant policy and practice issues. This will be distributed to all key stakeholders in advance.
  • Government Key Contact Officer Briefings will provide information on the process being undertaken and expectation of all agencies to contribute to the renewal process at a date to be confirmed.
  • Start, Learn & Develop Well, Live Well, Work Well and Age Well Roundtables will each be convened during March 2017 to consult with the government, non-government, community and private sector representatives and stakeholders relevant to the each of the Early Action Plan priority areas.
  • Consultation with the Early Action Reference Group will occur in April 2017 following the Well Working Group Roundtables to consider the outcomes of the Roundtables and implications for the updated Action Plan.

COTA will be represented at the Age Well Roundtable being held in March 2017 and welcomes comments from older people.
