Creating Age-friendly Communities

Age-friendly cities and communities are places where older people live safely, enjoy good health and stay involved. Guiding the development of age-friendly places is a process that actively involves older people in decision-making, implementation and evaluation of a plan of action to bring about sustainable change.

In June 2016, the Queensland Government launched the Queensland: an age-friendly community – Action plan which provides a clear way forward to direct the implementation and delivery of age-friendly communities in Queensland.

We have partnered with the Queensland Government and The Ageing Revolution to deliver 13 age-friendly workshops throughout the state before the end of June.  The workshops provide an opportunity for local government, community organisations and businesses to come together, and discover the benefits for local people in their communities.
