Continuing our collaboration with age-friendly UQ and the Liveris Academy

We are pleased to be continuing our support of The University of Queensland’s age-friendly journey. In June, a number of our volunteers along with Research and Education Coordinator Andrea Petriwskyj and two members of our Board sat down for a day with UQ’s Liveris Academy scholars to discuss ideas for an ongoing collaboration, as well as ideas to celebrate Seniors Month.

UQ is the first university in the Southern Hemisphere registered with the Global Network of age-friendly universities. We are part of the advisory committee for this initiative and are excited to be working with the Liveris scholars to further the intergenerational connections at the university.

UQ’sLiveris Academy for Innovation and Leadership provides scholarships and enrichment experiences to high-achieving undergraduate students with a focus on leadership, innovation, sustainability, global technologies, and digital transformation. A key focus is on helping their Scholars build important leadership capabilities, including empathy, critical-thinking, and multi-disciplinary problem-solving.

Some very exciting ideas for events, mutual learning and mentorship came out of the day, and we look forward to sharing more with you in the coming months as we work with UQ and the Academy.
