Expression of Interest – Consumer or Carer Representative Volunteer Community Peer Navigator Pilot Program (North Brisbane and Moreton Bay Region)

Do you want to support older people and their carers to live well and stay connected?

Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland has partnered with Moreton Bay Regional Council and other organisations to pilot a volunteer community peer navigator program in the North Brisbane and Moreton Bay region to support older people and their carers to live well and stay connected.

We are recruiting one consumer or carer with a lived experience of mental health to participate in the Partnership Steering Group.

Time commitment will be approximately 1-2 days per month from Sept 2021 – Mar 2022.

Through this role, the successful consumer or carer representative will provide their lived experience and expertise to:

❖ progress the development, delivery and evaluation of the pilot program
❖ attend partnership steering group meetings (in person or via Teams) every 4-6 weeks
❖ support the planning and delivery of the peer navigator training workshop (28/29 Sept)
❖ contribute to development of a community of practice for peer navigators
❖ actively contribute to the reporting to Brisbane North PHN.

The program started at Bribie Island Library in April 2021 and the pilot will be extended to Caboolture, Redcliffe, Strathpine, and Inner North Brisbane from Oct 2021 to Feb 2022.

We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and levels of experience. The successful applicant will be remunerated in line with the Queensland Mental Health Commission’s Paid Participation Policy.

Applications close 5pm Friday 27 August 2021. Interviews will be held Wednesday 1 September.
