Brisbane North Aged Care Forum

Bronwyn Bidstrup, COTA Queensland’s Aged and Community Care Programs coordinator was MC for The Brisbane North Aged Care Forum on 17 June.

The forum was attended by over 70 people including service providers, health professionals and government representatives, and the topic was connecting through digital technology. Speakers talked about a range of technologies and how they are enabling people to stay connected and have an improved quality of life. They also heard, via pre-recorded video, from a 92 year old in regional Queensland about her experiences with connecting via a ‘tablet’ with others as part of the digital Community Visitors Scheme delivered through Aurous, as well as a 72 year old volunteer with the program.

The quarterly Brisbane North Aged Care Forums are delivered by Brisbane North PHN’s healthy@home consortium.

COTA Queensland is a member of the healthy@home consortium  which is a consortium of 18 leading organisations who are experienced in supporting people with diverse needs, characteristics and life experiences, and it includes community aged care service providers, government and non-government agencies, peak bodies and advocacy groups.
