In February the Hon. Mick de Brenni MP, Minister for Housing and Public Works, Minister for Digital Technology and Minister for Sport convened the first meeting for 2019 of the Ministerial Housing Council. COTA Queensland is establishing a Policy Panel to inform our advocacy.
COTA Queensland is supporting The Older Persons Homelessness Prevention Project which aims to improve awareness and take action on the increasing prevalence of housing problems facing older people on lower incomes and assets in Australia who have not attained secure and affordable housing.
COTA Queensland continues to work closely with Palliative Care Queensland (PCQ). The aim of the collaboration is to utilise the strengths, knowledge and experience of each organisation to promote supports available to Queenslanders to live and die well.
Housing is a key issue, and it has significant implications for many aspects of older people’s lives. Planning ahead is critical. Housing decisions are complex, often have emotional implications and for some older people decisions may be made under stress.
