Council on the Ageing Queensland recognises that many older people are facing significant cost of living pressures, with energy-related expenses making up a substantial portion of regular household expenditure. To respond to this, we have launched a new statewide initiative called Energy4Seniors. This program utilises local volunteer ‘Energy Champions’ to provide older Queenslanders with valuable information, practical tips, and ideas to make wise choices about their energy usage.
Program Highlights
Energy Champions engage in face-to-face discussions with older people, aiming to:
- Increase Awareness: Available concessions, rebates, and supports.
- Enhance Energy Literacy: Improve understanding of energy bills and usage.
- Boost Confidence: Provide useful information and tools to enable older consumers to make wise energy choices.
Become a Volunteer Energy Champion!
If you are a community-minded individual, actively involved in local groups and activities with older people, and have a passion for helping others, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
As an Energy Champion, you will:
- Connect with Older People: Conduct face-to-face and small group information sessions.
- Receive Training and Support: Benefit from comprehensive training and ongoing support.
- Access Resources: Utilise a wide range of information, resources, and ideas to share with your community.
Community Groups: Host a Volunteer Energy Champion
