Safer Internet Day

On Safer Internet Day, 9 February, the world will come together with a shared vision of making online experiences better for everyone.

Over the past year, the internet has brought us together to work, learn, socialise and share more than ever.  We need to make sure it is safe as possible so everyone can enjoy the benefits of being connected.

Here are some top tips for online safety:

  1. Be an upstander. If you see abuse online, report and delete it.
  2. Protect your personal information online by using a different password for each account and turning privacy settings on devices, apps, and social media accounts.
  3. Be conscious of you online profile. Don’t post anything that may put you in danger, affect your reputation or be used against you.
  4. Stay on the lookout for scams and phishing contacts – don’t click on suspicious links, give out personal information or send money in response to an unexpected request.
  5. Help others to be safe online – especially family and friends who are not tech- savvy
