New palliative care resources app

caring@home is a project funded by the Australian Government and led by the Brisbane South Palliative Care Collaborative that improves the quality of palliative care service delivery across Australia through resources that support people to be cared for and to die at home, if that is their choice.

Produced for community service providers, health care professionals and carers to support carers to help manage breakthrough symptoms safely using subcutaneous medicines.

To assist health professionals supporting families, carers and patients on palliative care, a purpose-built app for phones and tablets  has been developed.  The app allows for quick and easy access to the caring@home resources in English and nine other languages (including training videos).

Features include:

  • Offline functionality -Download the resources in the app to use it offline making it ideal for rural and remote health professionals who may have an unreliable internet connection
  • On-demand resources – Carers/families can benefit from immediate introduction and access to caring@home resources, without the need to wait for hard copies to be delivered
  • Print capability – Health professionals can print documents directly from the app using local WIFI printer connection.

The app is FREE and can be downloaded here: www.caringathomeproject.com.au/tabid/5159/Default.aspx
