It was Human Rights Month from 10 November to 10 December 2019. This annual campaign run by the Queensland Human Rights Commission highlights the importance of protecting and promoting human rights. This Human Rights Month focused on what the Human Rights Act will mean for Queensland.
There are a number of resources available for you to find out about:
- what rights are protected under the Act,
- the role of parliament and of courts and tribunals,
- what a public entity is and
- the complaints process or you can
- download a combined kit of all the factsheets on the Act (PDF File, 824.0 KB) to print or read later.
You can also undertake an online training session on the Act through the Human Rights Commission’s website – it’s free and should only take about 25 minutes.
COTA Queensland is also involved with the Community Services Peaks Action Plan for the Implementation of the Human Rights Act.
