Greater Brisbane lockdown ends but not without restrictions 

Residents of the Greater Brisbane region including Logan, Ipswich, Moreton and Redlands unless otherwise directed can now leave their homes for any purpose any may travel throughout Australia should the states and territories permit it.

The following restrictions apply until 1am, Friday 22 January 2021:

Face Masks:

You must carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave home, unless you have a lawful reason not to. You must wear a mask in indoor spaces, except in your home. For example:

  • shopping centres, supermarkets, retail outlets and indoor markets
  • hospitals and aged care facilities
  • restaurants and cafés (not required for patrons; customer facing staff only)
  • churches and places of worship
  • libraries
  • indoor recreational facilities and gyms
  • indoor workplaces (where safe to wear a mask and you can’t physically distance)
  • public transport, taxis and rideshare
  • airports and travelling on planes
  • staff in restaurants, cafes, pubs and clubs who interact with the public must wear masks but not patrons.

You are not required to wear a face mask when outdoors at a safe distance from other people (for example, walking a dog), in private vehicles or when doing strenuous exercise.

Children under 12 years are and people affected by a medical condition or disability are exempt. It is strongly recommended you wear a mask when outdoors if you are unable to stay more than 1.5m distance from other people, such as busy walkways and thoroughfares.

Gatherings, Weddings and Funerals:

  • Up to 20 people can gather in a home or public space
  • Funerals and weddings can have up to 100 guests, and there are no restrictions on dancing at weddings.
  • Dancing is allowed at weddings.

Businesses and venues:

  • Businesses and venues can have one person per 4m² indoors and one person per 2m² outdoors.
  • Smaller venues up to 200m² can have one person per 2m² up to a maximum of 50.
  • Restaurants and cafes can open for seated eating and drinking, no standing allowed.
  • Dancing is not allowed except at weddings.

Events:

There are a range of event restrictions based on whether an event is indoor or outdoor and how many people are attending.

  • Indoor concert venues and theatres can operate at 50% capacity or one person per four square metres, whichever is greater.
  • Outdoor stadiums can operate at 50% capacity with COVID-safe plans.

Visitors to aged care, disability accommodation services and hospitals

Restrictions on visits to aged care,disability accommodation, and hospitals will remain.
