This document is to inform political parties and candidates participating in the 2020 Queensland State Election about the needs, concerns, and interests of the large and growing number of older people in our state.
Housing stress and homelessness is a continuing and unacceptable issue for many Australians and a growing issue for the country’s older population. The report also identifies solutions to address the vital housing and service responses needed to help older people in Queensland who are struggling.
Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland advocates for the rights, interests and futures of all Queenslanders as we age. In this paper we focus on the needs of Queenslanders aged between 50 and 65 who are
not eligible for care under the NDIS but who need some support or care in their everyday lives.
The views expressed by COTA Queensland are based on the understanding that a central purpose of the Health Transparency Bill is to assist consumers in becoming better informed about services offered by residential aged care facilities and their performance.
